According to Elon Musk, intercontinental travel will be reduced to a matter of minutes. He has a plan which is purely theoretical for now, but the expectation is that he will be able to use the rockets made for traveling to the moon and mars, to travel between major cities on Earth. He suggests that people will be able to fly anywhere in the world in under an hour for the same price as a plane ticket.
Musk gave The Verge some examples of flight times. Hong Kong to Singapore in 22 minutes, London to Dubai in 29 minutes, and Los Angeles to Toronto in 24.
The basic idea behind this new endeavor relies on the mega-rocket, which would put a spaceship into orbit around the earth. The ship would be able to land on floating landing pads placed near cities across the world. Weird right?
Mr. Musk is planning on the construction of this intercity rocket to take place over the next year so just hold on to your hats folks, looks like he’s planning on putting the pedal to the metal on this one. We wish him luck!
