A sight- seeing trip in and around Udaipur is a fascinating experience as this magical city is filled with many wondrous sights both heritage and new.

Walk down or cycle through criss-crossing narrow lanes filled with vibrant and colourful shops selling leather and wooden artefacts, jewelry and beauty items. Get great bargains on memorabilia.

Hire a tuk-tuk to tour around the Crystal Gallery, check out the Vintage Car Museum or wander into Saheliyonki Bari, where the fountain works run on natural water pressure from the FatehSagar Lake. Then head over to the observatory in the 18th-century Sajjangarh Fort. Despite the state of the structure, the breath taking view of the city, surrounding lakes, rivers and Aravali Mountains will be worth it.

Historically seeking

Udaipur is a treasure trove for history buffs. Head to Haldighati, a mountain pass located 40 kilometres from the city, which had witnessed the battle between MaharanaPratap and the Moghuls. The place, translated to ‘the yellow valley’, derives its name from the yellow soil of the place.

Next up is the famed Kumbhalgarh Fort, a World Heritage Site among the Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Located 65 kilometres from the city, the fort’s perimeter walls are rumoured to be ranked second after the Great Wall of China. During your stay, you can go sightseeing around the old city. Take sunset boat cruises, fly a kite beside the lake or play Croquet near the pool. Dress up like royalty for puppet shows, enjoy Kalbelia, a traditional dance, or book for our Destination Dining experience.

Then, located 120 kilometres from the city, is Chittorgarh, filled with stories about when Chittor was the capital of the Mewar region.
