STORY: Both foreign and local tourists were stranded and unable to reach the iconic historical site. Many of them protested as they demanded solutions for what they deemed a loss of time and money.
Local protesters went on strike and blocked roads. They demanded that 50% of the tickets to the archaeological site be sold in town and in person, to help reactivate the economy, and an increase to the number of tourists allowed to enter.
These protests are entirely unwarranted, to be honest. It doesn’t make sense to me why these protests are taking place.
