8.2 Earthquake Hits South Pacific Off Fiji

 

  • An 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck 200 miles off the coast of Fiji in the Pacific Ocean, and about the same distance from Tonga.
  • The earthquake struck just after midday Sunday.
  • The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said based on the data available, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected, and there was no threat to Hawaii.
  • So far, no damages or injuries have been reported.
