As overwhelming storms battered eastern Spain, a search party was launched for a missing British man who may have been swept out to sea.

The 25-year-old was last seen on Tuesday in the Sant Joan de Labritia of Ibiza as Storm Gloria brought it’s own strong winds and rain to the region. The man’s name had not been released.

A woman is accusing an airline of “gender discrimination” after she says she was prevented from entering its business class lounge because of her outfit.

Natalie Marie Coyle, a former WWE wrestling star, was attempting to access the Qantas Airways business lounge at Australia’s Melbourne Airport last Thursday when the alleged incident occurred. The wrestler-turned-fitness-model, known professionally as Eva Marie, said that despite having purchased a business class ticket for her upcoming flight, she was not allowed to enter the lounge beforehand.

First US case of coronavirus hits Washington state, CDC says

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first U.S. case of a new coronavirus that has killed six people in China.

The CDC and Washington state officials said the man, a Snohomish County resident in his 30s, was in good condition at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. The symptoms presented Sunday, and the diagnosis was confirmed Monday.

Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, called the news “concerning,” particularly in light of reports that the virus has begun to spread from person to person.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Five people, including one child, were killed in the Russian city of Perm on Monday when a hot water pipe exploded in the night and flooded a basement hotel room with boiling water.

At least three other people were taken to hospital with burns after the incident in the Mini Hotel Caramel, which is located in the basement of a residential building, the region’s investigative committee said.

A doctor treating the victims, Andrei Babikov, said a 33-year-old woman had burns covering 35% of her body. Two men aged 28 and 35 were in a less serious condition.

The city of St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, declared a state of emergency on January 17 as the province was battered by a blizzard that brought high winds and driving snow.

Environment Canada said “intense winds and record-breaking snowfall” bore down on Newfoundland on Friday. A total of 76.2 centimeters (30 inches) of snow was recorded at St John’s
International Airport on Friday, shattering the previous record of 68.4 centimeters (about 27 inches) that was set in April of 1999, according to the weather service.

His parents Chris and Julie Shorley, both 55, flew to Thailand to be at his bedside.

Chris Shorley, of Thornton, Lancashire, told The Sun: “He was two days from death. We are now waiting on tests. It is very serious.”

The publisher added: “If he wasn’t so fit and healthy before he wouldn’t be with us now. They think he is the first Western victim of the Chinese flu, we are waiting on tests.
